“I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.” – Muhammad Ali
Positive thinking definitely has an impact on the physical and mental health of an individual. Believing in ourselves and our abilities when things are good is very common. But positive thinking is something a person holds even when things are not happening the way we wished for. When a person has positive thoughts, it strengthens the belief they have about themselves. This belief thereby motivates them to take actions to move forward in life. Gandhiji had rightly said, "A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes." It is important that we have a positive mindset and a positive outlook towards life, so that we act positive in every situation we encounter. During these times of Covid-19, we are facing the greatest test of our positivity. Someone in the social media added a bit of humor to this saying, "In the recent times, to be healthy and active, we have to be negative." Humor adds a great value in maintaining a positive mindset. Other than humor what else can we do to keep us positive ? Here are a few things we can practice;
1) Smile often - There is a quote that says, "Smile even if it is a sad smile. Because worse than a sad smile is the sadness of not knowing how to smile."
So have a hearty smile because that is the curve that sets your life straight.

2) Gratitude - Be grateful for the things you have. Instead of cribbing about the things that we don't have, we can focus on things that we have and be thankful for them.
3) Focus on solutions- We feel a range of negative emotions and thoughts when we are faced with a problem situation. When we focus our attention onto the solutions rather than the problems. We can develop alternatives for the problems when we start thinking about the solution.
4) Create a positive environment-
Hang out with people who can help you maintain a good mental health. Avoid toxic people to keep yourself away from negativity.
5) Have time for leisure- Take a break from your routine. Do something you like or something you enjoy. Enjoy your favorite hobby, your favorite food and your favorite passtime activities.
6) Start your day with an optimistic attitude- The beginning of the day sets up the base for the rest of the day to be spent. Make the beginning pleasant with a fresh ray of positivity. Start your day with your favorite song or with a prayer or as simple as a smile that makes you feel better.
